On 9 Sep 1857 in Kaufman, Kaufman Co. TX, Rachael Carter Shaw married James K. Polk Shaw who was born 30 Aug 1834 in Lincoln Co. TN and whose death was reported as 2 Jun 1866 while in Confederate service during the Civil War with no burial location. They are parents of: Margaret Medora (Dora), Emily Maebelle (Belle), James Polk, Erlander D.(Early), Adolphus and Osmund. "History of Rockwall County 1842-1968" by O.L.
