"L.S. Skaggs Dies in Burnet Hospital" "Ludlow Snow Skaggs passed away in a Burnet hospital after several years of failing health. He was the son of Mrs. Alice Snow Skaggs and the Late Sanford Remley Skaggs. He was born April 8, 1894 on the same ranch he was living on at the time of his death, which occurred September 13, 1952. He had lived there all of his life except a few years on an adjoining farm. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War I. He served as Commissioner of this precinct for four years, a member of the County Board of Education for twelve years. He was married to Miss Stella Shaffer September 3, 1919. Other survivors are his mother, Mrs. Alice Skaggs; one sister, Mrs. S.R. Dillingham; one brother, R. B. Skaggs, all of Briggs. Graveside services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Mill Creek Cemetery with Rev. Silus Howell of the Llano Church of Christ officiating, assisted by Rev. E.A. Hendrick, Baptist pastor at Briggs. Pall bearers were Edwin Harton, Jimmy Taylor, Jud Smith, J.R. Jordan, Harvey Bates, T.R. Carson, J.C. Arnold, H.W. Bizzell. Briggs-Gamel Funeral Home of Lampasas had charge." (Long list of out-of-town attendees omitted)
