Bio
Zaola Friou, 77, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Barney Railsback officiating. Arrangements are by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mrs. Friou was born Aug. 27, 1931, in Madill, Okla., to Edward and Cora Alexander Cearly. Everyone called Zaola either "MoMo" or "Zolie." She loved the Lord, her family and her friends. Mrs. Friou was a member of Irwin Road Baptist Church. Zaola spent a lot of her time crocheting gifts for loved ones, and she also loved to collect recipes that she wanted to try "someday." She had lived in Amarillo more than 60 years. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Davis; her husband, Clyde Friou; two brothers, Lloyd and Boyd Cearley; and a sister, Velma Coburn. Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Leavitt of Amarillo; a grandson, Rodney True and wife Elizabeth of Amarillo; two granddaughters, Dionne McPherson of Caldwell and Desri O'Connor and husband J. of Amarillo; five great-grandchildren, Madison and Preston True and Jailey and Aidan O'Connor, all of Amarillo, and McKenzie Pierce of Caldwell; a niece, Kay Halford and husband Jerry; a nephew, Ronnie Coburn and wife Diana; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to Irwin Road Baptist Church, 5631 Irwin Road, Amarillo, TX 79108; or BSA Hospice and Life Enrichment, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105.
