Son of C.F. Yeager. Civil war veteran, teacher, lawyer, politician, and editor of the Waxahachie Enterprise, an early newspaper. He joined the 29th Tennessee regiment at the age of 17, attended Tusculum College in Tennessee, and moved to Texas with his famiy in 1870, settling first in Alvarado. After moving to Waxahachie, he became Professor of Languages at Marvin College. It was here he met and married Minnie Rainey, sister of Judge Anson Rainey. Afterwards he moved again to Alvarado where he taught at the Masonic Institute, and then he taught at Veal's Station in Parker County. He began a law practice in Ellis County which he continued until 1880 when he purchased a local newspaper, The Waxahachie Enterprise, which he operated until his death. He was a member of the Oddfellows, the Methodist Church, and well-respected in the community. He died of consumption (tuberculosis), leaving a wife and six children. Burial: May 11, 1890
