Leona Edmonds, 64, of Fort Worth passed away Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, at a local hospital. Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at White's Chapel of Memories in Weatherford. Interment: East Greenwood Cemetery, Weatherford. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Leona Edmonds was born March 19, 1943, in Dallas, the daughter of A.L. "Hempy" Hemphill and the late Susie Mae Tindle Hemphill. Leona moved to Weatherford in 1972 and was a former member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. Known by family and friends as "Ma," Leona had a very kind, loving and giving heart. She adored her grandchildren. Leona will be remembered for her chicken and dumplings and homemade fudge. She also loved playing bingo and Elvis. Leona was preceded in death by her mother; grandmother, Johnnie Mae Tindle; brother, Jerry Don Hemphill; Hazel Hemphill and Craig Merryman. Survivors: Father, A.L. Hemphill of Whitney; daughters, Shari Beth Woodruff and husband, Brant, of Azle and Lisa Woods and husband, Todd, of Weatherford; son, Luther Edmonds and wife, Megan, of Fort Worth; daughter, Jennifer Bean and husband, George, of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Amy Schindler of Azle, Jennifer Williams of Fort Worth, Tyler Merryman of Weatherford, Lucas Harrell of Fort Worth, Cameron Merryman of Weatherford, Jacob Woods of Weatherford, Alyssa Hale of Fort Worth and Gabriel Bean of Fort Worth; great-grandchildren, Skyler Williams and Ozzilyn Schindler; brother, Steve Hemphill and wife, Carol; sisters, Nancy Malone and husband, Harold, and Juanita Smith and husband, Chester; aunts, Jerry Bates of Blue Springs, Mo., and Margaret Graham of Sweetwater; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving family and friends.
