Bio

From memorialutah.com: With heavy hearts, we announce the death of our father Vernon Jean Peterson, age 76, of South Jordan, Utah. Born September 2. 1945 in Junction, Utah and passed away on July 4, 2022, at Jordan Valley Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones. Our dad was passionate about service to his community where he served for over 30 years in Law Enforcement at Salt Lake County Sheriff's office and West Jordan Police Department. He most certainly had an impact on the lives of those he served. Post-retirement was about living life to the fullest. He purchased Good Spirits and committed his time to serving his patrons for over 10 years. He was truly the life of the party. He loved vintage cars, playing pool, darts, golf, and was known to get on the stage and sing karaoke at the top of his lungs. He thrived on telling jokes, teasing people and making everyone laugh. He was truly someone whom everyone enjoyed being around. He touched so many lives throughout his journey and has now joined those he lost too soon. Vernon was predeceased by: Parents, Ray & Reva Peterson, Brothers: Harold & Jerry Peterson, Children: Cory Peterson & Traci Peterson-Sanchez, Granddaughter, Markelle Frei, Shih Tzu, fur babies: Sophie & Ginger. Vernon is survived by: Longtime companion, Mary Martin, Children: Lorrie Peterson, Cindy Peterson, Shane Peterson (Shylo Bseiso), Travis Peterson (Tina), Heidi Dodd (Matthew), Nicole Rich (Wilden Wulle), Sarah Peterson (Jason Hermansen), Teresa Renfro (Nick), along with 30 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. We invite you to join us at his viewing on Saturday, July 9th from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery (6550 S Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah). Following the viewing, we will travel to Richfield City Cemetery (75 East Center, Richfield, UT), where all are welcome to join us at a graveside service @ 4:30 pm before he is laid to rest with his parents. To honor our dad, we are holding a celebration of life at Bar 86 following the graveside service (900 Cove View Road, Richfield, Utah). We invite everyone to join us to pay tribute, honor, and celebrate him. There will also be a celebration of life at Good Spirits, West Jordan, Utah on July 22, 2022 at 7:00 pm. Those of you who knew our dad well, are aware that he was a generous man, with a big heart. He freely gave his time, money, support and love to so many people throughout his lifetime. In his honor, we encourage everyone to be mindful of the difficulties others' may be facing and perhaps donate time, food, money, service and love to help lighten their load. We know this is exactly what our dad would have done.
