Bio
Elaine Kirby Scott passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022 at the age of 78 in Waco, Texas. Elaine was the youngest child born to Hugh Morris and Floy Fowler Kirby on March 8, 1944. She grew up in the Chatfield community where her dad was a farmer and her mother was a housewife. Her mom later became the postmaster at the Chatfield Post Office. After graduating from Ennis High School in 1962, Elaine moved to Dallas, Texas where she worked for Crum and Forester Insurance Company for over 20 years. Elaine married Royce Scott on September 4, 1983 in Fairbanks, Alaska. They moved to Yuma, Arizona where Royce worked construction and they traveled extensively throughout Arizona, California and Alaska with his work. Royce and Elaine loved to ride sand rails in the dunes of California. Elaine moved to Waco, Texas after her husband's death to be near her son, grandchildren, and family. She was a member of the Robinson First United Methodist Church. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Royce, her brother Morris Dwain Kirby, and her sister Laura Standifer. Elaine is survived by her son, Erick Kirby Coker and his wife Tammi of Robinson, Texas, grandson Kirby Reed Coker and his wife Kaylie of Tulsa, Oklahoma, grandson Nathaniel Neumann of Bastrop, Texas, granddaughter, Lindsey Smith and her husband Corey of Denver, Colorado, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation with the family was held on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 9 a.m.- 10 a.m. at Corley Funeral Home. Graveside services followed at 11 a.m. at New Chatfield Cemetery in Chatfield, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Elaine's name to the Chatfield Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 45, Chatfield, Texas 75105.
