Son of James M. Painter & Cynthia [Robinson] Painter Married Melissa Anna Parks September 17, 1866 Gilmer Co., Georgia Civil War: Pvt Co F, 60th Regt. GA Inf CSA Addition BIO contributed by John Sims He was captured at the Battle of the Wilderness on 6 May 1864 (compiled service record says Mine Run 12 May 1864) and imprisoned at Elmira, NY (beginning 10 August 1864) until released 21 June 1865. Records show he was 5'11.5" tall with auburn hair and hazel eyes. It is also noted that his complexion after a year was florid. His residence was listed as "Cleaveland," TN, but that is incorrect.
