Bio

Sadly, Kevin Lee Brush, 66, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away March 20, 2023, at his home in Albuquerque, N.M. He was born Nov. 14, 1956, in Broken Bow, Neb., to Bernard and Evelyn Brush. A National Merit Scholar, Kevin graduated valedictorian from Broken Bow High School in 1975 where he was an accomplished athlete on the football, basketball, baseball and track teams. He worked summers at the Don Albin ranch and loved the cowboy life. He also loved carpentry and woodworking, skills he learned from his father and grandfather. Kevin attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to study engineering but found his calling as a builder of beautiful homes and a mentor to those he built with. One young colleague wrote, ""We are not just better builders because of Kevin, we are better men because of our time with Kevin."" Kevin is survived by his wife Ruth Govier Brush; their three children and five grandchildren; daughter Erin Brush Duncan, her husband, Kyle, and their daughters Reese and Eliana of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta; son Tyler, his wife Kate, and their daughter Nora, of Euless, Texas; and son Zachary, his wife Joy, and their daughter Evie and son Callan of Albuquerque, N.M. Kevin loved his family above all else, particularly his grandchildren who adored their ""Papa."" He is also survived by his mother Evelyn Leone Brush of York; sisters and brothers-in law Diane and Pete Lowry of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Nancy and Gary Hall of York, and Carla and Jim Rodriguez of Minden; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Bernard Pershing Brush. Kevin was dearly loved and will be missed every day. A celebration of life is being planned for this summer. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to The START Center in San Antonio, Texas.
