Cynthia Layton Wynne 16 August 1949 - 17 November 2025 Cynthia Layton Wynne, born August 16, 1949, in Marshall, Texas, entered her heavenly home on November 17, 2025, at the age of 76. She was the beloved daughter of James "Jim" Ike Layton and Marguerite (Hutto) Layton and a proud 1967 graduate of Marshall High School. On October 26, 1982, she married the love of her life, Hollis K. "Buddy" Wynne, Sr., with whom she shared 43 years of devotion and joy. Cynthia dedicated much of her career to the Marshall Independent School District, where she served faithfully and retired as Administrative Director of the Transportation Department. Following retirement, she continued serving her community through her work at Texas Farm Bureau Insurance in Marshall. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Marguerite Layton, and her in-laws, Ray and Rudine Maddox. [Names of living persons redacted] Cynthia leaves behind a legacy of love through her family; her beloved husband; her children, two sons, and a daughter; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother; two sisters; brother-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and cherished friends. Cynthia was a devoted member of Walnut Springs Baptist Church in DeBerry, where her church family was as dear to her as her own. Cynthia's greatest joy was her family, and her absence leaves a profound void in the lives of all who loved her. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 6–8 p.m. at Down's Funeral Home in Marshall. Funeral services will follow on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Walnut Springs Baptist Church in DeBerry, with interment at Tatum Cemetery in Tatum, Texas.
