Roger Broadwell Obituary Roger L. Broadwell, age 83, of Apache Junction, Ariz. passed away on Oct. 31, 2021. He was born on April 12, 1938 in York to David H. and Bernice (McGowan) Broadwell. He attended York country and high school. Roger attended the University of Denver where he earned his bachelor's degree in business administration. He served in the National Guard. A celebration of life was held Sunday, Nov. 7 at Harmony Community Baptist Church, 10701 E Boulder Drive, Apache Junction, Arizona 85120. Memorials may be sent to the church in his name. Roger married Lavonne "Jaty" Tonniges in 1959. They raised their daughter in Central City, where he worked in the Broadwell family farming business. Roger worked in sales after retiring from farming. His last 21 years were spent in Arizona. He loved boating, fishing, hunting, tractor pulls, classic cars, and studying history. Roger so enjoyed music of many genres especially country. His favorite activities in his retirement were attending various live music jams in the valley and his church. Roger is survived by his daughter, Susan Broadwell of Minneapolis, Minn.; sister-in-law, Maxine Broadwell of Mesa, Ariz.; nieces and nephews and many friends. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Lavonne "Jaty"; three sisters and three brothers. Published by York News-Times from Nov. 30 to Dec. 1, 2021.
