Bio
Mrs. Laverne Lowery Martin, 86, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at her home. Laverne was born on June 19, 1939 in Emory, Texas and was the oldest of eight children of Norman and Florence Wright Lowery. Her siblings included: the late Patsy Lowery, Norma Lee Weeks, the late Harold Lowery, Sr. (Sheba), Judy Campbell (David), Eugene Lowery (Dorothy), Kathleen Shell (Wayne), and Kenneth Lowery. Laverne was married to the late Thomas Martin on July 3, 1955 and was married for fifty-two years. They had five daughters: Marilyn Parker (Russell), the late Vicky Polk (Frank), Tammie Worden (Joe), Tommie Hill and Allison Standiford (Bruce). She had nine granddaughters and four grandsons, great-grands and great, great-grands. Lavern was a lifelong member of Doctor's Creek Church. She will be remembered by all as a pillar of her family and a loving "NaNa" to all. She most enjoyed time with her family, photography, and collecting china dolls. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o'clock Thursday morning, October 2, 2025, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Doctor's Creek Baptist Churchyard, 126 Doctor's Creek Road, Walterboro. 2025 Brice Herndon Funeral Chapels and Crematory
