Garold "Jerry" Eugene Barney March 29, 1928 – March 19, 2010 Garold was born in Seward, NE, graduated from Seward High School in 1946 and entered the Navy to get an education and see the world. He served one tour but unfortunately never got assigned to a ship and remained in the states for the duration. After the Navy he attended the University of Nebraska (Go Big Red), majoring in Electrical Engineering while at the same time was also active in the Airforce ROTC. He graduated as an officer in the Air Force and with a B.S in Elec. Engineering. He stayed in the mid-west and settled in Minnesota with a lifelong career at ITE Circuit Breaker Co (later renamed Gould Brown-Bovari). In 1988, he and his wife, Geraldine retired full-time to Tucson, AZ where they were very active in square dancing and round dancing. They loved to travel summers to see family in Minnesota, Washington, Nebraska, and Colorado. They reminisce about the great trips all over the US, Canada, Alaska, Japan and Australia. Jerry collected an abundance of friends along the way and it seemed that everywhere he went he knew someone. In his words "a stranger is just a friend I haven't met yet". He was loved very much by his family and his friends and will be greatly missed. Survived by wife, Geraldine; sisters, Vivian Sedlacek (PA), Norma Jean Giles (CO); children, Ted (and Raine) Barney (Graham, WA), Scott Barney (Graham, WA), and Cheryl (Barney) Dowd (Olympia, WA); his step-children, Ronald (and Ann) Gutman, (Denver, CO), Randy (and Mary) Gutman (Glenwood, MN), and Susan Gutman-Whisenhunt (Casey); 10 grandchildren, Gared and Marisa Barney, Micah and Heather Furnes, Jessica (Gutman) Schultz, Travis and Elizabeth Gutman, Lucas and Gabrielle Larson-Gutman, and Kalene Gutman; and three great-grandchildren: Trenton and Cohlton Schultz (Gutman) and soon to arrive Addilynn Mae Shupe (Barney).
