Bio

Elmer Solomon Gibbens, son of Sarah and James Gibbens, was born June 28, 1881, at Westerville, Iowa, and came to his death at Clarinda, Iowa,(20Jul1927) at the age of 46 years and 22 days old. He had spent all of his life near Grand River and Decatur, Iowa, with the exception of four years in Sargent, Nebraska. In the year of 1908, Oct 7th he was united in marriage to Miss Sophia Bell Reed. Elmer was converted at Palestine church and later on was a member of the Pentecostal church and was an ernest believer in the christian work. He leaves to mourn his untimely death, a devoted wife, father, and one sister, Mrs. Clara Heckathorn of Huston, Idaho. His mother preceded him in death three years ago and one brother and one sister died at an early age and several uncles and aunts and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church in Decatur and the remains were laid to rest in the Decatur cemetery. DECATUR COUNTY JOURNAL
