Cecil Wayne McKenzie II, 63 of Mabank, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. Wayne was born on August 13, 1960, in Dallas, Texas, to Cecil Wayne McKenzie and Marie Annette McKenzie. Wayne was devoted to his family and friends. He was the kind of person who would stop and help anyone who was in need. Wayne was an active member of the Mabank Fire Department for 31 years. Wayne loved the outdoors and any chance he got, you could find him hunting, fishing, gardening, or working on the farm. He was a hard-working man who never met a chore he couldn't do or a task he wouldn't accomplish. Although he was an avid hunter, Wayne loved animals, especially his dog Jake. Wayne's hobbies also included construction and restoration. Wayne worked at Southern Methodist University for 22 years before going to work for the City of Mabank, then Kaufman County, where he worked until his death. Wayne's departure came at a great shock and a deep wound that has been felt by his entire family and countless friends who loved him deeply. Wayne is survived by his son, Joshua McKenzie and wife Jessica; grandchildren, Leadan McKenzie, Addilie McKenzie, and Sean McKenzie; mother, Marie Annette McKenzie; brothers, William McKenzie and wife Valerie McKenzie, and Jeffery McKenzie. Wayne is preceded in death by his father, Cecil Wayne McKenzie.
