Edward Leo Marek, 89, of Santa Fe passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025. He was born on July 2, 1936, to the late Frank and Mary Marek in Wallis, Texas. Beloved Wife of Over 58 Years: BB Ann Marek Children: Edward Leo Marek, Jr. Christine Ann Marek Patsy Beall Cynthia Sterling (Robbie) Leo Marek He leaves behind a proud legacy through his grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren. Sister: Sydney Smesny Brothers: Raymond, Bernard, Adolf, and Johnny Marek Edward was a man of strong work ethic and deep devotion to family, Edward built a life defined by dedication, love, and service. He was the founder of Santa Fe Water Services, where his hard work and leadership left a lasting impact on the community. Prior to opening his own business, he spent many years at Central Freight Lines. Edward was the creator of the current girls' softball field in Santa Fe. He also enjoyed his time as a girls' softball umpire while his daughters played and later his granddaughters. Edward was a passionate outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. Whether casting a line, working the soil, or telling stories with family, he found joy in life's simple pleasures. Above all, Edward was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather who deeply cherished his family. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Reverend Larry Wilson, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2025, at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501, with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. with recited by Mr. Don LeCompte.
