Arlon Martin Scott, 87, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025.He was born on July 25, 1937 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Arlon was the devoted husband of the late Patricia McConnell Scott, whom he met while attending Navy Officer school in Rhode Island in 1959. Together they shared fifty-four years of marriage, and Arlon was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend to all. Arlon led his life grounded by his faith, and he was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church. His greatest passions in life included spending time with his grandchildren, playing guitar, and continuing to work on his golf game. Arlon was a wonderful caretaker for Patricia who survived a stroke at an early age, and he always conveyed his compassion for others and love for all that life offered to all he met. Arlon, along with his brothers and sisters, proudly hailed from Texas. He grew up with his extended family in Devine, TX, before attending and graduating from Texas A&M. Arlon served in the Navy for four years and proudly served twenty more as a Navy Reserve Officer, where he retired at the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Arlon and Patricia had lived in Texas, Virginia, and Massachusetts, before settling in Louisville in 1978 where they raised their children Lauren, Daniel, and David. Arlon retired from a career in management with the Census Bureau. In their retirement, Arlon and Patricia found great joy in spending time with their grandchildren and traveling to see family in New England and in Texas. Arlon was predeceased by his wife, Patricia McConnell Scott; his parents, Cecil Newton Scott and Helen Scott Poore Larkin; his stepfather, James Poore; a sister, Jalyne Poore Chant; two brothers, Kenneth Craig and Jimmie Knox; two sisters-in-law, Roberta Beauchamp and Sharon McConnell; and one brother-in-law, John McConnell. He is survived by three children: Lauren Rice (Keith), Daniel Scott, and David Scott (Mary); four grandchildren: Molly Rice Prendergast (Peter), Nolan Rice, Kyra Owens-Scott, and Chase Owens-Scott; two loving sisters: Elyse Poore Allen (Ken) and Sherry Poore Lewis; two sisters-in-law: Kathy Nerney (Billy) and Diane Cormier (Al); and many loving nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025, from 3:00 – 7:00 pm. A second visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, from 9:30 – 11:00 am ET at Epiphany Catholic Church, 914 Old Harrods Creek Road, Louisville, Kentucky. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am ET at Epiphany Catholic Church. A short graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm ET at Calvary Cemetery, 1600 Newburg Road, Louisville, Kentucky
