Frank E. Novak, lovingly known as Frankie, passed away in God's care on Monday, July 7, 2025, in Houston, Texas at the age of 64. Born on October 8, 1960 in Richmond, Texas, Frankie lived a full and meaningful life, marked by resilience, ingenuity, and deep devotion to family, despite a lifelong battle with complications from juvenile diabetes. Frankie was a man of strong morals and quiet strength. Grounded in common sense and a deep sense of loyalty, he was the kind of person who always found a way to help others, especially those he loved. A skilled electrician, he had a talent for making things work with what he had on hand, often repurposing everyday items with impressive creativity. An outdoorsman at heart, Frankie had a passion for gardening, fishing, and hunting. He was known for his two green thumbs and could grow just about anything from a seed or cutting. He generously shared the fruits of his labor, literally, offering fresh vegetables, fruit, and even homemade wine crafted from grapes, watermelon, pears, and peaches from his garden. As a fisherman, he earned the nickname "fish whisperer," making his own rods and reliably finding the best spots to cast a line. Frankie is survived by his devoted mother, Marie, and his eight siblings, David and his wife, Donna; Margaret and her husband, Eddie; Barbara and her husband, Ted; Kenny and his wife, Tina; Mary and her husband, Billy; James and his wife, Neome; Greg; and Angie and her husband, Kier. He was a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews and leaves behind a large extended family who will deeply miss his humor, generosity, and steadfast presence. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank; his sister, Agnes; and his brother, Edward. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at Methodist and Kindred Hospitals, as well as Fresenius Kidney Care, for their support and dedication. A rosary will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 9900 Stella Link Rd, Houston, TX 77025. A reception will follow to celebrate Frankie's life. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to BreakthroughT1D.org (formerly Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).
