-- from The Eagle, June 10, 2005 Dorothy Louise Newcomb Sept. 15, 1930 — June 7, 2005 Services for Dorothy Louise Newcomb, 74, of Kurten are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. The Rev. Ray Marshall of Reliance Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be at Tryon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Newcomb died Tuesday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center. She was born in San Antonio and had lived in Kurten since 1955. She worked for the Bryan Production Credit Association for 23 years as assistant vice president. She served as treasurer for the Kurten Community Center and was a HOST mentor for Bryan schools. She volunteered with the Brazos Youth Livestock Show and Zion Church of Kurten and was a member of Reliance Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Albert Newcomb of Kurten; three sons and two daughters-in-law, John Newcomb of Fort Worth, Jay Bob and Elizabeth Newcomb of Kurten and Jerry and Deborah Newcomb of The Woodlands; a daughter, Janet Newcomb of Kurten; and six grandchildren.
