Edward Paul Malota, 88, of Fayetteville, TX passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 29, 2025. He was born in Fayetteville, TX on February 16, 1937 to Paul and Betty (Sulak) Malota. Edward is survived by three sisters, Doris Matocha of Fayetteville, Texas; Angeline Wasicek of Needville, Texas; and Betty Jean Janak and husband, Larry, of Columbus, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Sylvester, Laddy, Rudy, and Roy Gene; and one sister, Lorine Polasek. Edward might have been his legal name, but Eddie was what the world called him. Eddie lived a life of simplicity with a King Edward cigar to chew and a jug of water; he was ready to conquer the day. Whether in his younger years working in the dairy parlors milking cows, dozing for Roger Read, or fencing throughout Fayette County and surrounding areas with Larry Treybig, he truly enjoyed working and this even allowed for his greatest passion of being able to work on the family farm that he called home for 88 years. He was also a wonderful uncle and dearest friend to so many. Eddie could teach and help out with anything put in his direction. But even then, Eddie's life wasn't just about work; it just made the daily trip in the evening to town (Fayetteville) oh so much more rewarding. Driving well below the speed limit with the windows down and arm hanging out, Eddie would take his routes slow, not to miss a thing taking place around the area. After making his evening stops for a snack and the coldest soft drink he would crave that day, you could find Eddie back at the place doing an evening fish for that largemouth bass that he may have caught before but each time was bigger, with a fight that would test the limits of his Zebco's. Or when the sun finally set, you could find Eddie in the living-room, at the far edge of the couch, watching wrestling or the evening news, but not so involved in what was on to not be able to visit about the day and anything that may be going on, for that was truly the news he was interested in. Though Eddie may have left us to be with our good Lord and rejoin those that have passed away prior, just remember it was never goodbye or see you later as his farewell but just "Take It Slow." A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Crematory, 109 E. State Highway 71 in Ellinger from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with family present at this time to receive friends. Funeral services will be held also at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Crematory in Ellinger on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Fayetteville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department or to Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations, 208 W. Pearl St., La Grange, Texas.
