He was born March 14, 1931 on the family farm in rural Prague, NE to Joseph A. and Mary (Fujan) Snitily. Leonard attended District 19, a one room rural schoolhouse. On October 5, 1955, he was united in marriage to Loretta Ostry at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Prague, NE. For his entire life, Leonard lived and worked on the same farm that has been in the family since 1901. He had seen many changes in the farming industry from farming with horses to the high-tech machinery used today. Leonard enjoyed bee keeping for many years, an interest he acquired from his father. He enjoyed listening to polka music and dancing with his wife, Loretta. Other hobbies included gardening, puzzles, reading, having coffee with friends, playing cards, sharing family history and the Czech language and watching Wheel of Fortune. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Leonard was a lifelong member of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Plasi, NE. Throughout the years, he served as church trustee, Prague Farmer's Union Co-op Elevator, District 83 school board member and Elk Township Clerk for nearly 60 years.
