RUBY KNAPP IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Ruby Ellen Knapp, 96, of Idaho Falls, passed away surrounded by her family January 22, 2008, at her daughter's home. She was under the care of Creekside Hospice. She was born July 1, 1911, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Walter E. Nelson and Mary Ellen Stuart Nelson. She attended schools in Pocatello. On June 10, 1930, she married Howard A. Knapp in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made their home in Idaho Falls, where they raised their four children. She was a homemaker and she and her husband owned and operated Highway Market Grocery Store. She belonged to the Pink Ladies Association at the LDS Hospital and was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she loved attending and serving in the Relief Society and Primary organizations. She and her husband, Howard, served in the Texas Mission Presidency from 1963-1965. Both Howard and Ruby served together as temple officiators for 17 years in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Her hobbies included flower arranging, reading, gardening, music and serving others. Her most priceless possession was her family. Survivors include: Daughter: Lorene Ellen (Jess) Ferre, Salt Lake City, UT Daughter: Joyce (Ralph) McBride, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Dale Howard (Carol) Knapp, Pleasant Grove, UT Brother: Ralph (Pat) Nelson, Pocatello, ID Sister: Betty (Don) Page, Pocatello, ID 17 Grandchildren, 47 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; a daughter, Barbara; three brothers, Ronald Nelson, Lester Nelson, Virgil Nelson; and a sister, Silva Halford. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2008, at the Idaho Falls LDS South Stake Center, 2051 S. Emerson, with Bishop Brad Backman of the 8th Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, and Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park.
