Bio

Robert Louis Vrana Sr. joined the Kingdom of Heaven on June 8, 2025. Born March 15, 1962 to Mary (Zmolik) and Joe Edward Vrana, in Dallas, Texas, he was known as "Big Robert" to most, and Papa to his grandchildren. A 1980 graduate of Ennis High School, Robert grew up in Dallas before moving to Ennis. As a long time Assistant Manager of Super 1 Foods, you could always find Robert at the grocery store. Most recently, he was working in merchandise. Robert's greatest treasure was his family. On November 6, 1982, Robert took Sherry Sylvester Vrana as his beloved bride and the two shared four children – Mary, Robert Jr., Nolan, and Grant – eight grandchildren, and 42 years devoted to each other. An avid sports fan, he never missed a chance to cheer on the TCU Horned Frogs, Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, and Texas Rangers. He loved watching any sporting event, but his favorite past time was attending the horse races with his family. They made a tradition out of it by going every Father's Day! There was no place he'd rather be than with his family, especially his grandchildren – he always bragged on them. Robert made many memories traveling with Sherry and the kids. He loved relaxing with a good show, especially Rodney Carrington. His loved ones will fondly remember his incredible sense of humor. Robert enjoyed telling a joke. Robert was a long time member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, and proud of his Czech heritage. He gave back to his community as a member of Knights of Columbus and K.J.T. He leaves a legacy of faith, hard work, and love of family that will be felt for generations. Dearly loved, he will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his mother Mary Ella (Zmolik) Vrana; and mother and father-in-law Etheline and Wayne Sylvester. Funeral Service will be held Friday, June 13, 2025, at 10:00am at St. John's Catholic Church, in Ennis, Texas. Internment will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
