Bio
Betty Jean Fitzgerald, age 88, of Blackfoot, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, June 8, 2025, with her beloved "Little Brother," Delwyn Sims, by her side. She was born on September 25, 1936, in Anderson County at the old Palestine Hospital to Ola Vee Ward Fitzgerald and Dan Fitzgerald of Blackfoot, Texas. Betty Jean leaves behind her extended Sims family, who cared for and loved her deeply, along with numerous friends and neighbors who will cherish her memory. She will be greatly missed each day, but we find peace in knowing she is in Heaven, free from suffering, in the loving arms of her Savior. Her spirit and love will remain in our hearts forever. She is preceded in death by her mother, Ola Vee Fitzgerald; father, Dan Fitzgerald; and her beloved aunt, Oma Lee Ward-Sanders. After graduating from high school, Betty Jean attended the University of Houston, where she earned her degree. She went on to model for JCPenney and later held positions with United Steel and Gulf Mobile, where she worked as an engineer for 17 years. Eventually, she moved to Midland, Texas, where she pursued her entrepreneurial spirit, opening a professional tennis shop followed by a barber shop. Betty Jean lived a full and vibrant life, and her legacy of kindness, strength, and faith will live on in all who knew and loved her.
