Graveside funeral services with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 4, 2011 at the Blocker Chapel at Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Bob Porterfield, officiating. He was born on July 9, 1924, in the Moore Community, in Howard County, Texas and married Wilma LaVerne Young on November 16, 1946 in Big Spring, Texas. She preceded him in death on April 29, 2009. He grew up in Martin County and attended Fairview Schools. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the Europeon Theatre. Allan was well known as a softball and basketball player in school and while in the Army and he loved to fish. Mr. Hopper had worked for 35 years as a mechanic for John Deere before he retired. He was a Baptist. Survivors include one daughter, Linda Grissam and husband, Tommy of Big Spring; two sons, Kenneth Hopper and wife, Jan of Coppell and Johnny Hopper and wife, Linda Kay of Stanton; one brother, Joe Hopper of Colorado City; 6 grandchildren, Brandon Hopper, Bryan Garner, Candy Ulmer, J. L. Hopper, Kyle Grissam and Courtney Grissam; and 10 great- grandchildren, Jacob, Sarah, and Wesley Ulmer, Christopher, Dusty and Amber Hopper, Alina, Riley and Austin Hopper and Dustin Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; one sister; and one grandson, Cory Hopper. The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Midland, P.O.
