Bio

Johnny Thomas Susan, 69, of Rices Crossing, Texas passed away Friday, July 11, 2008, at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston. Johnny was born on July 17, 1938 in Elgin. He married Juanette Raley on May 22, 1960 and they shared 48 wonderful years together. This union was blessed with five sons. Johnny worked for Austin Independent School District as grounds supervisor and retired after 30 years of service. He was a devoted member of the Taylor Brethren Church. He lived life to the fullest every day and never let the truth get in the way of a good story. He also enjoyed dancing to Czech music, gardening, cooking and spending time with family and friends. Johnny loved everyone he ever met but held a special place in his heart for all the children, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, H.A. and Ruth Susan of Taylor, and his sister, Betty Zimmerhanzel of Paige. Johnny is survived by his loving wife, Juanette, his five sons, 12 grandchildren and four sisters. A prayer service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, July 14, at Condra Funeral Home. The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, at Taylor Brethren Church. Pallbearers will be his six grandsons. He will be laid to rest at Taylor City Cemetery. Condra Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
