Bio

William Fred Bennett "Wild Bill" 74 finally decided to quit raising hell and passed peacefully in his home on August 24, 2024. Bill was born in 1950 in Burley, Idaho to Myrtle Laura Peterson and John Henry Platt (divorced). When Bill was five years old his Mother married Archie Eugene Bennett. Archie adopted Bill and raised him to be a hardworking, strong and honest man. Bill was raised here in Blackfoot where he graduated from Snake River High School. He went on to College for a couple of semesters before joining the military. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War, Beachmaster Unit one. It was a challenging experience for him but he left the Military a proud Veteran. In his final days he shared that he was glad that he had the opportunity to serve our country and he even shared a few fun and funny moments that he had during that time. He said he would do it again if he had to. Bill met the love of his life, Kay Jeannette Slagowski in Evanston Wyoming. While he was in the Evanston area he worked at a Soda Mine. They soon married and chose to move here to Blackfoot where they started their family. They raised three wonderful children Randy, Michelle and Bonnie. Bill and Kay enjoyed taking the camper with the RZR and going to Mackay, visiting Kay's family in Wyoming, and raising cows and pigs. Bill passed the lessons on to his son Randy to work hard, be strong, be honest and to always take pride in the things you do. Lessons that helped him to be the man he is today. Bill was also loving and giving to his daughter Michelle and made sure that she knew his front door was open for her, that she always had a safe place to be. And though his daughter Bonnie passed away at such a young age, he always kept the memories of her close to his heart. He showed his family in so many ways how much he loved them. Bill worked for Ostberg Salvage for 14 years before starting his career at INL. He started as a janitor and worked his way up to Heavy Equipment Operator, he retired after 25 years. While he worked at the site he also was a partner in B&B Catering and was the owner of his pride and joy, Wild Bill's "Hoe" Service. During this past few years Debby Christensen has been a special part of his life. They shared some good times together, built some wonderful memories, and even when they were apart they would still end the days together with a phone call. She always brought a smile to his face. Their love and friendship meant the world to him. Bill made a lot of friends in this town that he worked for, he worked with and he played hard with. Camping, hunting, fishing, or just hanging out and sharing stories. So many friends that he truly thought of as family. Bill will be missed by all of us and he will always be remembered. Bill is survived by his son Randy (Dhana) Bennett of Blackfoot, daughter Michelle Bennett of Blackfoot. Grandchildren: Victoria, Jesse, Justin, Kaulyn, and Zayden. First Great Grandbaby: Bonnie Chevelle. His brother, Don (Gloria) Bennett of Chubbuck. His best friend, Sammy He is preceded in death by his wife Kay, daughter Bonnie Jean, his parents Myrtle and Archie and many siblings.
