Entering the Lord's presence, Arden "Ardie" Dwight Garverick, 94, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025. Ardie was born to the late Guy and Mabel (Smith) Garverick on August 5, 1930, in Morrow County. Ardie married the love of his life, Beverly "Bev" Bedson, on April 18, 1958. Their 64 years of marriage were characterized by deep companionship, mutual support, and joyous moments that created a lifetime of cherished memories. He faced the passing of Bev on September 3, 2022, with the same strength and love that defined their relationship, carrying her spirit within him. A proud graduate of Washington-Bloomfield Township High School, Class of 1948, Ardie dedicated 40 years of his working life to the engineering department at North Electric/Peco, where he was known for his diligent work ethic and camaraderie with his colleagues. Following retirement, he enjoyed a fulfilling role at Wolf Hardware in Galion, where his warm demeanor and cheerful spirit left a positive impact on everyone he met. Ardie was a devoted member of Iberia United Methodist Church, where his faith and commitment were evident in every prayer of thanksgiving offered. His joyful enthusiasm extended beyond his faith community; he often looked forward to cheering on his favorite teams, the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Guardians. A man of many passions, Ardie loved collecting coins and was an avid traveler, finding great delight in exploring the world alongside his beloved Bev. Among their many adventures, their trips to Hawaii held a special place in their hearts, symbolizing their shared joy and sense of adventure. Ardie was also a proud member of the Masonic Lodge #414 and the Scottish Rite, where he forged lasting friendships rooted in shared values and dedication to service. His generous spirit and lighthearted nature were evident in his interactions, leaving a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to know him. Left to cherish Ardie's memories are his brother, extended family members and close family friends, which include Jeff (Carla) Pennington of Galion and their children, Garrett, Gavin and Carlee Pennington. Along with Ardie's parents and wife, he is preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters and a stepson, Terry Freeman. A graveside service will take place at Crawford County Memory Gardens, 6594 Old Lincoln Highway, Crestline, on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 10:00 am in the mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 North Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607, and the Galion Masonic Lodge, 1252 OH 598, Galion, OH 44833.
