Bio
Ruth (Yelnek) Rose, age 89, of Louisville, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the Louisville Care Center. Born in South Omaha in 1936, Ruth was the daughter of Stanley and Faye (Hopkins) Yelnek, originally Jelinek. She graduated from Omaha South High School in 1954 and married the love of her life, James B. Rose, Sr., in 1956. Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, and community. In 1970, Ruth and James made their home in Louisville, where they would spend the rest of their lives. In 1994, they became a familiar presence on Main Street as the owners of Louisville Liquors, which they operated for more than 20 years. Known for her friendly smile, Ruth was a welcoming face to many in town. Ruth is remembered by her sons, Steven (Susan) Rose of Louisville and James Jr. of Las Vegas, NV; her sister, Faye Flowers of Hot Springs, SD; her grandchildren, Hannah (Ian) Walsh of Hillsdale, MI and Sam (Natalie) Rose of Columbus, NE; and her many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband James (2017) and her son Scott (1980). Visitation will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home in Louisville, with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM to greet friends. A memorial service will follow on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 10:30 AM at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Jon Sollberger.
