Bio

Joe Willenborg December 10, 1939 — January 18, 2025 Ernest Joseph Willenborg was born on December 10, 1939, and died on January 18, 2025. He lived a rich and full life and will be missed by all who knew him. Joe was born in Houston, Texas, to Ernest John and Marie Ford Willenborg. His parents moved the family to Laguna Park, Texas, in 1952, to open the Laguna Lodge on Whitney Lake when it was just starting to fill. He graduated from Clifton High School in 1958. He joined the army and spent some time in Germany. When Joe returned, he went to the University of Texas in Austin and graduated with a BA in history. The information age was just getting started and he joined it. After working for IBM for a couple of years, he went to work at the City of Dallas in the Data Service Department and stayed there 30 years. Joe married Marian Lindner Dennis on July 25, 1989. After retirement, they moved to Laguna Park, Texas, where they lived in the home Joe's father built. Joe bought a new boat and enjoyed fishing. He loved going to the horse races at tracks in Louisiana and Arkansas. Joe was a sweet man who leaves behind his bonus son Steven Dennis and wife, Courtney, sister Judy Wilson and husband, Garry, brother John Willenborg and wife, Beth, sister Janice Schieffer and husband, Jerry, sister Mary Toback, sister-in-law Linda Willenborg and grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marian, his parents, and his brother Jim Willenborg. There is no service planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
