Bio

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Irene Aloisie Wachel, a greatly loved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Irene passed peacefully into eternal life at the age of 90 on April 24, 2025 in Katy, Texas. Born on April 25, 1934 in Frydek, Texas, Irene was known for her kindness and generosity to friends and neighbors, and for her unwavering support of her daughters. She loved animals, socializing and laughing with friends and family, listening to music and dancing. She embraced her Czech heritage and the polka music that she loved. Shortly before her passing, Irene told the music therapist at the hospital that she wished she was young again. The therapist asked why, what would you do. Irene replied that she would DANCE, flinging her arms out from her body like a professional dancer. We're certain that she is doing just that in Heaven. Irene was preceded in death by her father, Frank Orsak, and her mother, Mary Sodolak Orsak. She was initially survived by her husband of 71 years, Albert Wachel. She is also survived by daughters, Sandy Lawrence, Sharon Scearce, and Brenda Wachel; sons-in-law, Paul Lawrence, Mike Scearce; grandchildren, Matt Lawrence (wife, Megan), Greg Moore (wife, Allison), Zach Moore (wife, Lindy); great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Whitney Lawrence, Davey and Marty Kay Moore, and Scarlett Louise Moore; adored cats, Callie and Nemo; and other extended family members and friends A funeral mass and celebration of Irene's life will be held on May 21, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Frydek, Texas at 11:00 am, followed by internment. Visitation will begin at 9:30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church on May 21, 2025, followed by the praying of the rosary. Irene's smile, advice, and support will be missed, yet we know she will continue to live with us in our hearts and memories. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Frydek, Texas.
