Bio

Joseph Thomas Smith, 78, died Monday at Humana Hospital Audubon. He was a native of Auburn, Ill., a retired salesman after 23 years with American Bakers, a part-time independent life-insurance broker, and a member of Highland Baptist Church, Buechel Masonic Lodge 896, and Scottish Rite. Survivors: his wife, the former Ellen Garmon; a son, Darrell Kinnaird; and two daughters, Linda Lee Field and Deborah Smith of Fairfield, Ohio; and five grandchildren. Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday, Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
