Bio
GILMER - Francis Marie Kouba Jenkins was born on Aug. 2, 1935, in Dallas to Wesley Lee Kouba and Iva Olive Matlock Kouba. She was married in 1955 to Gerald Wayne Jenkins, who preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 2000. She is survived by their daughter, Angela Marie Jenkins Norton of Gilmer Also surviving are her brother, Col. Wesley Thomas Kouba of Gilmer, one nephew, Wesley Thomas Kouba II of Plano; and a great-nephew, Stewart Thomas Kouba, also of Plano. Mrs. Jenkins was an executive secretary in Dallas for many years, having been employed as secretary to the director of research and education for the National Cottonseed Products Association and then as executive secretary to the director of the Department of Public Relations for Baylor University Medical Center. For the past 16 years, Francis Jenkins has been secretary to Michael D. Martin, attorney at law, in Gilmer. Mrs. Jenkins was an Episcopalian who served on the Altar Guild and as secretary of the Women of the Church at St. Dunstan's in Mineola. She was a charter member of St. David's in Gilmer, where she also served on the Vestry Committee and the Building Committee. Finally, Mrs. Jenkins was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Winnsboro. Francis Jenkins died on Thursday, March 8, 2001. Services for Mrs. Jenkins will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home with the Rev. James Slack officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Pritchett. The family requests than anyone wishing to honor Francis make a donation in her memory to the Building Fund of St. Francis Episcopal Church or St. David's Episcopal Church or to the Upshur County Library.
