Fort Bend Herald, May 4, 2025: Francis was born to Adolph and Alice (Zurek) Felcman on July 26, 1937 in Wallis, Texas and returned home on April 27, 2025. He grew up on the family farm fostering at an early age his love for the outdoors. He attended Wallis High School and Wharton County Junior College. He received his degree from Sam Houston State University, majoring in Industrial Arts with a minor in Business. Francis proudly served the country he loved in Korea for one year in the Army Engineer Battalion, Rank Specialist E5, and another two years in Active Reserves. After his Army service, Francis went to work for Collins Radio for five years, Texas Instruments for 18 years, and finally Compaq Computers where he retired after 17 years of service. Francis married Delores Ann Sklar, also of Wallis, Tx., on July 17, 1960. They shared almost 65 years of marriage and two sons, Christopher and Jeffry. Francis was very active in his community. He coached/managed Chris' Little League Baseball teams, and attended as many local sporting events he could. Francis also served as leader for the Lamar 4H Club, mentoring youth and supporting the Fort Bend County Fair. He was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Richmond, Tx. where he and Delores were in charge of cooking the delicious green beans with bacon and onions for the annual Turkey Dinner Bazaar. Francis was a proud member of the American Legion Wallis Post 200. He treasured the time and fellowship he spent with his fellow Veterans. Francis loved being outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time at the deer lease with son, Chris, brother-in-law, Johnnie Sklar, and numerous cousins and nephews. For many years, he maintained a large backyard garden and nurtured an orange tree his beloved father grafted. In his latter years, he enjoyed working and visiting the family ranch in Milano, Tx. Francis is preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Alice Felcman; brother, Marcus Felcman; in-laws, John and Tracy Sklar; brother-in-law and wife, Johnnie and Tilly Sklar; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Francis is survived by his wife, Delores Ann of Rosenberg, Tx.; son and wife, Chris and Nancy of Magnolia, Tx.; son, Jeff of Houston, Tx.; sister-in-law, Gaydell Felcman of Lake Jackson, Tx.; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Services are set for May 5, 2025 at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, 5610 Demel St. (P.O. Box 487), Wallis, Texas 77485. Visitation is scheduled for 9:00-10:30 a.m., rosary for 10:30-11:00 a.m., and funeral mass for 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at 3:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery, 3900 B.F. Terry Blvd., Rosenberg, Tx., 77471. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wallis American Legion Post 200, P.O. Box 730, Wallis, Tx., 77485.
