BEAVER - Merle Grimshaw Nelson, 94, passed away on July 2, 2008 at the Beaver Valley Hospital Long Term Care Center. She was born February 6, 1914 in Beaver, Utah to John and Mary Elizabeth Bradfield Grimshaw. She was born in the historical John Grimshaw family home, which he built. She married Joseph Peter Nelson on May 16, 1934 in Beaver, Utah and their marriage was later solemnized in the St George LDS Temple on May 16, 1950. She was an active member of the LDS Church and held many positions throughout her life. She was a meticulous homemaker and loved to cook for her family and others. She enjoyed taking care of her home and her family and was a great hostess to all who came to their home. She was a very kind and gracious lady to all the people with whom she came in contact. She is survived by her children, Phillip (Peggy, deceased) Nelson of Farmington; John (Ann) Nelson of Bountiful; and Doris Adele (Dennis) Daniels of American Fork; 14 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. She was the last of 10 children. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Shirley Rae (Bob) Hughes, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is the youngest of 10 children, all of whom preceded her in death. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Beaver LDS 2nd Ward Chapel. Friends and Family may pay their respects on Friday evening at the Southern Utah Mortuary in Beaver from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
