Bio

Deanna J. Moran, 82, of North Platte, NE, formerly of St. Edward, NE, passed away Monday, April 21, 2025, at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 25, 2025, at St. Edward Catholic Church in St. Edward, NE with Fr. Matt Gutowski officiating. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the church with a 7:00 p.m. wake service. Deanna Jo Moran, daughter of Louis and Katherine (Padden) Novotny was born June 11, 1942, in St. Edward, NE. She attended St. Edward public schools and graduated as valedictorian in 1960. On July 9, 1960, Deanna married her high school sweetheart, William Moran at St. Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha, NE. From this union Deanna was blessed with four children. Deanna and Bill lived in Omaha until Bill was drafted into the US Army. Once he returned, they moved back to St. Edward, NE. They then moved to Norfolk, NE then Omaha, NE for a while, before moving back to St. Edward, NE. Deanna was secretary and bookkeeper for Moran Machine & Repair as well as their trucking company, GBM Trucking. They worked together to run the businesses. In 2001 Moran Machine & Repair was sold and they moved to Norfolk, NE. In 2014 Deanna moved to North Platte, NE to be closer to her children after the passing of Bill in 2013. Deanna was a member of the St. Edward Catholic Church and Holy Spirit Catholic Church in North Platte, NE. While living in St. Edward she was a part of the Altar Society, secretary for the Shopper and on the school board for District #83. Deanna enjoyed keeping in contact with her family and friends. In her leisure time Deanna kept her mind sharp by doing crosswords and paint by number activities on her iPad. She had a great four-legged companion: Milo the cat. Deanna is survived by her three children: Annette (Roland) Knox of Maxwell, NE; Brad Moran (Ann Dush) of Maxwell, NE; Scott (Cecelia) Moran of Central City, NE; six grandchildren: Conner (Nina) Moran; Tony Knox; Colton Knox; Kierra (Jake) Huebner; Jessica (Leighten) Repp; Kaitlyn (Zach) Sheid; four great-grandchildren: Dani; Payton; Jackson; and Harrison; two sisters: Patty Roberts; Mary Lou (Daryl) Raitt; brother-in-law: Bob (Ginny) Moran; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Bill Moran; son: Michael Moran in infancy; five sisters: Dolores; Nellie; Dindy; Marilyn; Delores; and one brother: Earl.
