Frances Ann Burton Cook, 73, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at home Tuesday, July 10, 2007. Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Friday in Greenwood Chapel, with the Rev. Tommy Latham officiating. Graveside service: noon in Grove Hill Memorial Park, Dallas. Fran was born April 17, 1934, in Tell to Martha and David Burton. Fran moved to East Texas in her early childhood and then to Dallas, where she attended N.R. Crosier Tech High School. Fran had a wonderful sense of style and an ear for music; she loved the rhythm and blues of the 1950s. She was the CEO of a family-owned business in Fort Worth. Fran was an exceptionally smart and dedicated businesswoman who continued to work during her cancer treatments. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bill; sister, Evelyn; and son, Donnie Cook. Survivors: Husband of 50 years, Don Cook; daughter, Susie Cook Pettigrew of Fort Worth; son, Steve Cook and wife, Shelda, of Aledo; granddaughter, Jordan and husband, Jason Winters; great-granddaughter, Olivia Winters of Norfolk, Va.; grandsons, Zane and Ridge Cook of Aledo and Matthew Cook of McKinney; beloved sister, Joyce Hays and husband, Fred, of Lubbock; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members; and a world of friends.
