Kratky, Jr., 85, of Prague, NE, entered into rest on Friday, April 11, 2025 at his home. He was born May 8, 1939 in Prague, NE to Edward Sr. and Hattie (Kohout) Kratky. Ed attended District 73 Country School from K-8 grade. Ed graduated from Prague High School in 1958. He served his country in the U.S. Army and U.S. National Guard from 1962-1970. After completing his service, he worked for Sedlacek Service as a mechanic for a short time. Ed then began his passion of farming and raising livestock on his family's farmstead in Rescue, NE. On June 9, 1965, Ed was united in marriage to Charlotte Vanek at St. John Catholic Church in Prague, NE. Ed and Charlotte were blessed with two children, Connie and Danny. Ed continued to reside in Rescue until his death. Ed was a simple man who enjoyed everyday life. His love for farming and all his animals was strong, so much so he felt as if he never worked a day in his life. He was the guy that knew how to fix everything, from tractors to flashlights, there was nothing that couldn't be repaired if Ed was around. He was selfless and never hesitated to drop whatever he was doing to help someone else. He was quiet in nature, but full of witty remarks. He enjoyed gardening, an afternoon trip to the casino, listening to polka music, and spending time with his family. His pride and joy were his two granddaughters, and he was so proud to recently be promoted to great-grandpa twice in the last year. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Charlotte Kratky; children, Connie (Kratky) Johnson of Prague, NE and Danny (Lori) Kratky of Prague, NE; grandchildren, Kaytlin (Cody) Mulbery of Wilber, NE and Kristin (Kalan) Zeilinger of Abie, NE; great-grandchildren, Merritt Kay Mulbery and Watson Edward Zeilinger; siblings, Richard Kratky, Ron Kratky, Georgianne Malousek and Gary Kratky; brother-in-law, Rudy (Janice) Vanek. He was preceded in death by parents, Edward Sr. and Hattie Kratky; sister, Janice Winkelman; sisters-in-law, Maxine Kratky and Carol Kratky; brothers-in-law, Marv Winkelman and Reynold Malousek; and his beloved dog, Duke.
