Bio
Eugene Claude Ewer, age 96, of Andover passed away on June 29, 2024. He was born February 2, 1928, on the family farm in Melville Township in Renville County MN. His grandmother was the attending nurse. He grew up in the Bird Island MN area where he went to school and was active in the Boy Scouts, achieving the level of Eagle Scout. He served his country at the end of WWII in the Navy, stationed in Guam. In 1949, he met and married Carol and they raised their four children in Hutchinson, MN before moving to Coon Rapids, MN in 1966. He possessed unique craftsman, mechanical and creative abilities, using them often in his work and volunteering to help others. He had a natural curiosity and was a life-long learner with many hobbies and varied interests. He was a devout Seventh-day Adventist and served in many capacities in the church. He was very health conscious in his daily life and conducted 5 day Stop Smoking Clinics in local hospitals and volunteered at the State Fair Adventist health booth for years. He loved the Minnesota State Fair and attended every year from when he was 4 years old until he was 93 except for his time in the service and during the polio outbreak in the 1950's. He was very self-sufficient and lived independently at The Farmstead Presbyterian Homes in Andover, MN for 18 years until two weeks before his demise. He is survived by his four children, Joy (George) Lindquist, Gwen (Thomas) Myre, Keith Ewer, Kent (Katrina) Ewer and by his 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by Carol, his loving wife of 56 years, by his parents and all eight of his siblings.
