Bio

Anna Catherine Boodée passed away on July 13, 2024, in Granite Falls, NC, at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, William John Boodée. Anna was born to the late Benjamin Joseph Barto and Mary Elmetta "Mae" Corbin Barto and raised in Ennis, TX. She shared a special bond with her four sisters, whom she fondly called "The Fist." Anna is survived by Evelyn and Larry Dugger of Greensboro, GA; Mary and Dale Finley of Carrollton, TX; Patsy and John Robinson of Rowlett, TX; and Betty Smith of Sioux Falls, SD. After marrying William, Anna moved to Suitland, MD, and then to Dale City, VA. Later in life, the couple settled in Ocala, FL, where Anna thrived and embraced her motto to "bloom where she was planted." Anna was particularly proud of her career as a registered nurse, a profession shared with her sisters. She also worked as a secretary at the FBI Academy and the Environmental Protection Agency. Her passion for acting led her to participate in numerous local stage productions. With DaleWood Theater Productions, she played memorable roles in "Brigadoon," "Pajama Game," "Gypsy," and "South Pacific." She took particular pride in her role as Mazeppa in "Gypsy." In the Oak Run Community of Ocala, FL, Anna was a founding member of the Way Off Broadway Players and participated in many stage productions. She also charmed audiences with her singing as a member of the Troubadours and the AARP Chords. Anna loved being a character and played a significant role on the Stage of Life. Always a positive presence, Anna would respond with "Terrific!" when asked how she was doing. In addition, if she were asked today, she would probably tell you that "Life is short. Eat dessert first!" Anna is survived by her sons, Mark and wife Karen (Armor) Boodée of Raleigh, NC, and Bart and wife Melissa Boodée. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Anna's vibrant spirit and loving nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Tribute & Tallent Funeral and Cremations was in charge of arrangements.
