Bio

On Friday, March 21, 2025, showered with love and surrounded by her family, Shirley went home to be with her Lord and Savior to see Him face to face, a day she looked forward to. Shirley was born on May 8, 1942, in Alton, Illinois to Charles and Julia Mundy. She attended high school in Jerseyville Illinois, where she was a Homecoming Queen. She met and fell in love with Harold Skaggs, her husband of almost 64 years. They moved to Texas and eventually settled in Comanche and have been a part of the Comanche community for more than four decades. She was a member of New Life Pentecostal church. She went to nursing school and graduated as a Registered Nurse and later served her country proudly and was deployed to Germany during Desert Storm as, Captain S.A. Skaggs in a field hospital unit for the United States Army. A retired R.N. that could not fully retire because she had a need to care for all the ones around her and would do anything she could possibly do for anyone in need. She loved children and they would always put a smile on her face. She loved road trips and going shopping and out to eat. Shirley loved to sew and to quilt, Southern Gospel music and old Hymns. She loved her pastors and her church family greatly. Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Cameron Lee Skaggs. Both parents, Charles and Julia Mundy, a brother, Charles Mundy Jr., and sister Nancy Mundy Frederick. Shirley is survived by her husband, Harold Skaggs of Comanche; son, Clayton Skaggs and wife Laura, of Comanche, daughter, LeDeana Grange of Coupland; two grandsons, Tyler Payne, Nathan Payne and wife Courtney all of Oklahoma; sister, Lois and husband, Pat Cazinha of Victoria; brother, Harvey Mundy; three great- grandsons, three step-grandchildren and twelve step great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces.
