Longtime Big Horn resident, Margaret Derrickson Logan, 92, died Friday, April 16, 2004, in Cheyenne. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with the Rev. David Duprey officiating. A luncheon at the Big Horn Woman's Club will follow the service. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mrs. Logan was born Feb. 8, 1912 at the family ranch near Aladdin, Wyoming, to Albert and Christina Derrickson. She was a graduate of Belle Fourche (S.D.) High School and the University of Wyoming, where she received a bachelor's degree in English education in 1936 and a master's degree in guidance and counseling in 1966. She married Francis Lloyd Logan on Jan. 31, 1942, in Hardin, MT. She was a classroom teacher, school principal, guidance counselor and a partner in ownership and operation of the Rafter 33 Cattle Co. at Big Horn. She also was an author and editor of poetry and a watercolor artist. She belonged to Big Horn Woman's Club, Big Horn City Historical Society and the Wyoming Writers Group. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993; two sisters; and a brother. Survivors include two sons, Thomas W., of Cheyenne, and Francis T., of Rapid City, SD. Memorials may be made to Big Horn City Historical Society or Big Horn Woman's Club.
