Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Alice Cool were held at the Methodist Church, Indianola, Iowa, Monday, June 20, 1964 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Francis Johnson in charge. Two hymns, "Beyond the Sunset" and "In the Garden", were sung by Mrs. Richard Bough, accompanied by Richard Peterson. Pallbearers were Jim R. Todd, Bill Todd, James C. McElherne, James Kennedy, Robert Palmer and Craig Palmer. Burial was at the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Indianola. Mary Alice Cool, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas A. Lucas, was born in Peoria, IL, June 20, 1868 and died at Boone, Iowa, June 17, 1964 at the age of 95 years, 11 months, and 28 days. She was united in marriage in the early nineties to Benjamin S. Cool in Warren County, and to this union 1 son and 4 daughters were born. After their marriage they resided in the Indianola, Iowa area until 1910, when they migrated to Alberta, Canada, where they homesteaded and lived for 37 years. Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Cool came to Boone in 1951 to reside with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Zenor. Mrs. Cool had been a member of the Methodist Church since girlhood. Her hobbies were gardening, reading, crocheting and dressmaking. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 3 children, 2 grandchildren, and 8 brothers and sisters. Survivors include 2 daughters, Mrs. Nathan Zenor of Boone, and Mrs. Albert Gillespie of Nanaimo, B.C., Canada; 14 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. ----------------------------------------- Mrs. Mary Alice Cool, 95, of 621 – 16th St., died at 5:54 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, at the hospital. She is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Nathan Zenor of Boone, and Mrs. Albert Gillespie of British Columbia, Canada; 1 brother, John Lucas of Dallas Center; 1 sister, Mrs. Rose Vertz of Altoona; and 14 grandchildren. A prayer service will be held at the Schroeder Funeral Home, Boone, Saturday, June 20, at 10:30 a.m. followed by services at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church at Indianola. Burial will be at the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Indianola. Friends may start calling at the Schroeder Funeral home Friday morning.
