Bio

Sherry Lynn (Looney) Cox - Obituary May 29, 1963 - February 15, 2024 Mrs. Sherry Lynn Cox, 60 of Newnan, GA, formerly of Katy, Houston, and Clear Lake, Texas passed away Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital where she has moved on to be with her Savior Jesus. She was born May 29, 1963 in Corpus Christi, TX to the late Audrey Gene Looney. Sherry grew up in Texas and California where her dad served as a U.S. Marine. She graduated from South Grand Prairie High School in 1982 and attended San Jacinto College in Pasadena, TX. Sherry worked numerous jobs in Dallas and Houston, more noted before moving to Georgia were Williams Communication and LyondellBasell Industries. In Georgia, she was a Realtor/Entrepreneur before winding down at Landmann Grills in customer service before retiring to the farm, enjoying her crafts, painting, and sewing. She was quite an entrepreneur turning a piece of cloth into a useful product or gift. Her talents were amazing and too numerous to write down. Sherry had an amazing eye for making clown/puppet costumes. Sherry was a Leader in her Bible study at Second Baptist Church, Katy location where she met her husband Barry before moving to Georgia. We found our home at East Newnan Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing and craft night. Sherry has that contagious smile and laughter and always trying to bring her friends or people she would meet to church. The amazing 8,000 Daffodils we planted together on Corinth and Aaron Young Road will Always be here to remind us of her contagious laugh, sense of humor, and her commitment to Christ and sharing the good news. Survivors include her Loving husband, Barry A. Cox of Newnan, GA. And her mother, Gloria Jean Detterman of West Texas. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.mckoon.com A celebration of Sherry's life will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM at East Newnan Baptist Church with Dr. Anothony Langley officiating.
