ARCADIA — Modena "Dena" Lee Cox, 75, of Joplin, left this life Thursday, July 3, 2008, at St. John's hospital after a short illness. Dena was born to the late Marcella Rhodes in Joplin on Monday, July 11, 1932. She graduated from Joplin High School in 1950. On April 7, 1951, she was joined in marriage to Paul Cox, and to this union three children were born. Once married, the family moved to Pittsburg, Kansas, where she worked as a library aide for the Pittsburg schools. She also worked as a dress maker for Eva Mae Jesse. Dena had a special gift with children, serving as children's church director at Trinity Baptist Church in Pittsburg for many years. After forty-one years in Pittsburg, the couple returned to Joplin where she continued her passion for crocheting and painting murals. Dena was preceded in death by her mother, and one granddaughter, Leslie Snapp. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Diane Snapp and husband Lynn, of Butler, Missouri; Paula Shepherd and husband Larry, of Bella Vista, Arkansas; a son, Robert "Rob" Cox and wife Shelley, of Wichita, Kansas. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Alisa Watts and husband Josh, of Belton, Missouri, Jeremy Snapp, of Lenexa, Kansas, Gabe Shepherd and wife Amanda, of Elk City, Oklahoma, Candi Lee and husband Matt, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Mikaela, Bryce, and Jamerra Cox, of Wichita, Kansas; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Rhoda Haynie, of Provo, Utah, and a brother-in-law, Robert Cox, of Joplin, Missouri; two nephews and four nieces. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2008 at the Fellowship Baptist Church, Joplin, MO with burial to follow at Osborne Cemetery, Joplin, Mo. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, July 6,
