Bio
Her WA State Death Certificate incorrectly lists Tessie as Tossa Malloy Mitchell. It lists her death date as given above, BUT lists the same date as her birth date (suggesting she died at birth.) It also lists her age at death as 32 yrs, 10 mos and 16 ds. I used her death date and age at death to calculate the birth date which I entered above. She appears with her family in Nebraska in 1880 and 1885 censuses that suggest she was actually born in 1877. Her death certificate states she was married but does not list her husband by name. He was Ralph Potter Mitchell. Oregon documents show they were married 5 October 1909 in Multnomah, Oregon, probably in Portland. Ralph is buried elsewhere in this cemetery. Her parents are correctly listed on her DC as M. A. Malloy and Bridget Hope. The informant was her sister, Elizabeth Malloy Fitzgerald. Tessie appears to have died at Elizabeth's house; cause of death is listed as an "exophthalmic goiter." Tessie and Ralph had one child, Jerome Ralph Mitchell, who is buried near Tessie. His WA State birth certificate lists his name as "August." WA State census records for 1920 and 1930 suggest he was raised by another of Tessie's sisters, Rose Ann Malloy Doyle.
