Dolores Marie (Brom) Shepherd, better known to everyone as Dot, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025 in Houston, Texas, with her husband by her side. She was born August 7, 1936 in Seymour, TX to Edwin Richard Brom and Mary Frances Mocek. She was educated in Seymour and participated in many activities, especially sports. She then moved to Houston and worked for Phillips Petroleum Oil Co. Dot married Walter Shepherd on June 7, 1958 and they were happily married for 66 years. Walter recalls one of the most inspirational questions Dot asked her future husband "Would you like to go to church with me on Sunday?" That led the family's faith and involvement in the Catholic Church. Dot's proudest moment was becoming a mother to her four children. She enjoyed volunteering at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church as Eucharistic Minister and Sacristant, assisting at funerals. Over years she spent time volunteering on the neighborhood board, PTA, SPP Citizens on Patrol, SPP Civic Board. Some of her other hobbies included playing golf and tennis, and coaching elementary girls and leading ladies' exercise classes at the YMCA. In 1998, Dot won the Senior Mixed Doubles Championship in Senior Olympics Tennis in Temple, Texas. Dot was proceeded in death by her daughter, Michelle Marie Shepherd, her parents, Edwin and Mary Brom, her brother Edwin David Brom, her mother-in-law, Ethel Kisling, and several other extended family members. She is survived by her husband, Walter Shepherd, and her children Lori Baumgarten, her husband Keith, Mathew Shepherd, his wife Lisa, and Brent Shepherd. She is also survived by her grandchildren Janelle Johnson, her husband Ross, Kristin Denson, her husband Tommy, Makenzie Shepherd, Hallie Shepherd and Aidan Shepherd as well as great grandchildren, Kaylee and Kase Denson, and Laird and Paisley Johnson. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Dot's caregivers: Cory, Kenosha, Adrianna, BJ, and Marilyn. A visitation for Dot will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2025 from 10:00 AM at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Community, 3600 Brinkman St, Houston, TX 77018, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM. Her interment will be private for her family. Pat H. Foley & Company
