TYLER - W.A. Monk Jr., 82, of Tyler, passed away June 29, 2008, in Crockett. He was born September 20, 1925, in Dallas, to William Alvin and Bertha Tidwell Monk Sr., who preceded him in death. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at Lloyd James Funeral Home Chapel in Tyler, with the Rev. Scott Matthews officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens of Gilmer. Mr. Monk was employed and retired from Union Pacific Railroad. He was a member of West Erwin Church of Christ and numerous genealogical societies. Mr. Monk was preceded in death by his parents, William Alvin and Bertha Tidwell Monk, Sr.: brother and sister-in-law, Benjamin David Monk and wife, Doris. He is survived by his nephews, Bruce Monk and wife, Lawanna, and Louis A. "Binky" Monk and wife, Debbie of Lovelady; great-nieces and great-nephews, Mandy Wilson and husband, Greg, Kyle Monk and wife, Carol, and Brandon Monk, of Lovelady, and Cayla Ables and husband, Cody of Tyler; and great-great-nephews, Benjamin Monk and Lane Wilson. Pallbearers will be Greg Wilson, Cody Ables, Kyle Monk, Brandon Monk, Randy Monk and Ronnie Ferguson.
