Bio
Judy Ann Ulmer, 77, of Grand Island, passed away on January 24, 2025, at her home. Per her wishes, cremation was chosen, and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Judy was born on May 12, 1947, in Omaha to John and Mary Burson. She was raised and received her education in the Burwell area, graduating from Elba High School in 1966. After graduation, Judy went on to attend the Grand Island School of Business. On July 6, 1968, Judy was united in marriage to Leo Ulmer. Two daughters were born into this union. The family made their home in Grand Island, where Judy worked at McDonald's for 19 years before becoming the cook at the Grand Island Veteran's home until her retirement in 2011. In her spare time, Judy enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She would grow her own vegetables and canned her harvest. She liked to watch cop shows on tv, like Perry Mason, Iron Side, and America's Funniest Videos. Judy enjoyed listening to all types of music, especially country music. As she got older, she enjoyed playing solitaire and doing word search puzzles. Her greatest love was for her family and her animals. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Leo; and children, Julie (Mitch) Kendall, and Liz Ulmer. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Burson; and siblings, Esther Tuma, Hazel Dvoracek, Russell Burson, Evert Burson, Loyd Burson, and Herman Burson.
