Bio
Howard Keith Carter, 90, of Winterset, passed away on January 19, 2025 at his home. Howard was born on December 27, 1934 to Harold L.("Jack") and Wilma (Travis) Carter in Clarke County, Iowa. He graduated from Patterson High School in 1952, and lived most of his life in Madison County. Howard and Evelyn Mitchell were united in marriage on November 12, 1954, in Winterset, and they were married for 70 years. He had attended the Grace Baptist Church. He worked for Pittsburgh-Des Moines Steel for 47 ½ years, and was proud of helping make the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. He also enjoyed farming. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold "Jack" and Wilma Carter; his daughter, Pamela J. Dickel; his brother, Richard Carter; and his brother-in-law, Reverend John Spradlin. A visitation will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm, also at Caldwell Parrish, Winterset Chapel.
